Let me just say, I was going to write a whiny, woeful post of frustration. I wanted to rant about race, about sexuality and about gender.
"Fifty years ago we'd have you upside down with a f***ing fork up your ass," ranted Michael Richards.
and yet . . .
"I'm not a racist. That's what's so insane about this," Michaels Richards said.
Kelly Ripa needs to just go away and stop acting too good to be a normal human being. Rosie O'Donnell, much as I love the woman, needs to get her savior complex under control and stop trying to use her own confidence with her sexuality to "help" every other potential gay and lesbian person on planet earth. And Clay Aiken, just needs to go ahead and address the issue (as well as get a hair cut.)
The Catholic political institution (I can't even bear to call it 'church' right now.) has decided, among other ridiculous acts of regression, to eliminate hymns with any feminine imagery for God. Um, though scant, the Bible does include a few of those, and suppose a hymn uses one of those texts . . . you are telling me we can't even sing the words of the Bible. okay, thanks.
But you get this abstract of my feelings on these events because, well, being hurt and frustrated is exhausting and not particularly "of the spirit" given that it is Thanksgiving. (A holiday which falls when it does because a President decided we needed to start our holiday spending as early as possible. Oh capitalism.
"Fear and excitement, grief and gratitude, anger and power, sadness and vulnerability: they are all separated from one another when we make them into an emotional drama, but one when we feel them as pure energy.”
So, yes, it's Thanksgiving and I would like to hang on to the gratitude end of the spectrum . . . realizing that I have been feeling sadness and grief about all this craziness, and in general lately.
I even leave my friends lately and feel profoundly sad. But today is the day to release the grief and embrace gratitude again.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
And now, I am off to begin my Thanksgiving celebrating with a slice of pie, pumpkin pie.
